During her time at Florida State University, Sophia Mansbach crafted an exceptional and distinctive undergraduate experience. Her academic journey was paved with notable achievements, beginning with the highest level Bright Futures Scholarship awarded due to her high rigor and college-level courses during high school. This prestigious scholarship not only opened doors for Sophia at FSU but also enabled her to complete her Bachelor's degree in International Affairs in just three years.
Sophia's freshman year was a transformative period spent in Florence, Italy, as part of the Florida State International Program's First Year Abroad program. Living abroad for a full year exposed her to the intricacies of intercultural communication and immersed her in the vibrant essence of European life. During her time in Italy, she explored the country extensively, delved into various European capitals, and actively engaged with the local community through volunteer work. These experiences not only enhanced her Italian language proficiency, but also provided a profound understanding of Italian culture.
Upon returning to FSU's main campus in Tallahassee, Florida, Sophia continued her studies in International Affairs while actively participating in FSU's Italian department. Her determination to revisit Italy remained unwavering, despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic. In January 2021, Sophia's dedication bore fruit as she was accepted to work as a Program Assistant for FSU's study abroad program in Florence, Italy. Balancing her Bachelor's degree studies with her work responsibilities in Italy, Sophia gained invaluable international work experience, which significantly shaped her career aspirations.
Sophia's undergraduate journey culminated in the completion of her Bachelor's degree in International Affairs, her impactful work in Italy, and her acceptance into the University of Florida's esteemed Master of Arts in Global Strategic Communication program. Her profound experiences abroad, coupled with her academic achievements and unwavering determination, laid the foundation for her future endeavors in cultural and strategic digital communication at the graduate level.
